today is day 3 of my sugar detox. i’m grouchy. and tired. and snappy. and lethargic. and depressed. and fat. or at least, i feel fat.
YUK!
my digestive system has been a little… out of balance as of late thanks to all the pie and sugary coffee and fast food frenchie fries and soda pops i’ve been imbibing. out of balance as in; my tummy hurt so bad 2 nights ago that i thought i was going to die. yeah, that bad. i felt like i was exploding from the inside!
so, a sugar detox it is. my poor hubby is already sick of me boobing about how all i want is a bowl of coco-roos. i don’t even like cereal! but all things sugary look fantastic to me right now!
just a few more days. just a few more days…
the rules of my sugar detox:
- no refined sugar
- no fruit
- no starchy sugars like potatoes
- no hidden sugar, as in bbq sauce
- no bread or other grain products
it’s pretty much a 21 day paleo eating challenge.
basically, if it’s sweet, it’s off limits. my only excusable offence is yogurt because i need the cultures to normalize my system. it’s definitely cheating because i could get a really good, well made sourkrout and get my cultures from there, but it’s expensive and i’m a po’ people. so, yogurt it is. now i could also do plain yogurt, but it just tastes awful! the only way to make it palatable is to add lots of honey and vanilla extract. so, back to square one: vanilla yogurt.
wanna try the detox with me?

Hats off, very inspirational! I have cut most sugar out of my diet and substitute with natural sweeteners, but Christmas is here and I am too distracted by my mum’s Christmas parcel….Will go straight back to yet another sugar detox after Christams. Actually looking forward to it cos, as you know yourself, it is just not the best of feelings having refind cane sugar coursing through my veins :)
All the best with your detox!
Love
Anna
thanks for the encouragement! the sugary treats around this time of year are my downfall. isn’t it strange how one treat turns into a month of binge sugar? i’ll have another blog post here shortly called sugar sync about my post sugar detox followup :)
good luck getting through christmas and keep us posted on your sugar detox!
Yes, so many times I thought I was over it after a detox and thought one sweet won’t kill me. Turn’s out it kinda does :)
Will keep reading what you’re up to. As I said, I am planning a project on sugar sensitivity after Christmas. Drop by if you are interested: http://mycycleoflife.wordpress.com/the-sugar-hangover-diaries
Keep up fighting! ;)

PS: I even bought the book “Pure, white and deadly” mentioned in the video stream above. Arrived today :)
